NAVIGATION DATA AND COOKIES

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire – during the course of their normal operations – personal data, the transmission of which is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. This information is not gathered to be associated with identified interested parties. However, due to their very nature they might allow users to be identified through processing and elaborations with data held by third parties. This category of data includes the IP addresses or domain names of the computers used by users who log in to the website, the addresses in the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) format of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained as a response, the numerical code referring to the status of the response provided by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the operating system and the user’s computer environment. These data are used for the only purpose of obtaining anonymous statistical information on the use of the website and check its proper functioning and are deleted immediately after processing. The data may be used to ascertain responsibility in the event of hypothetical computer crimes against the website.

COOKIE TYPES

Cookies are pieces of information that are entered in the user’s browser when they are visiting a website or using a social network with their computer, smartphone or tablet. Each cookie contains several data such as, for example, the name of the server it comes from, a numerical identifier, etc. Cookies can remain in the system for the duration of a session (i.e. until the browser used for browsing is closed) or for long periods and may contain a unique identification code.

The use of technical cookies is a treatment that is carried out in the legitimate interest of the Data Controller. The use of analytical cookies is made with the consent of the interested party. In addition, the latter might refuse to provide the Data Controller with his navigation data. In order to do this, cookies must be disabled by following the instructions provided by the browser in use. Disabling cookies can have a negative impact on navigation and use of the website.

Technical cookies

Some cookies are used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring and storage of specific pieces of information about the users who access a web page. These so-called technical cookies are often useful, as they can make browsing and use of the web faster, because for instance they concur to facilitate certain procedures when making online purchases, when authenticating to restricted access areas or when a website automatically recognizes the language you usually use. A particular type of cookie, named analytics, is used by website managers to gather information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the website, and then process general statistics on the service and its use.

Profiling cookies

Other cookies can be used to monitor and profile users while browsing, study their movements and habits of web surfing or consumption (what they purchase, what they read, etc.), also for the purpose of sending advertising of targeted and customized services. In this case we are referring to profiling cookies. A web page may contain cookies from other sites and contained in various elements hosted on the page itself, such as advertising banners, images, videos, etc. These are the so-called third-party cookies, which are usually used for profiling purposes. Considering the heavy invasiveness that profiling cookies (especially third-party ones) can have on private users, European and Italian legislation requires the user to be adequately informed about their use and express their consent to cookie insertion in their computer.
